"A Bloody Business" by Stephen A. Roddewig

I had the pleasure of working with author Stephen A. Roddewig to design the cover art for his book "A Bloody Business".

After reading Roddewig's thriller, I decided that a digitally painted cover design would be the best choice to represent the book's tagline of "history meets comedy meets hitman", mixing the distressed texture of the background with the photo-realistic revolver and hand (missing a pinky finger). The blood and smoke on the front also serve to draw the reader's eyes to the content of the back cover.

Altogether, I delivered cover art for paperback, eBook, and audiobook, as well as content for Roddewig's social media and author website.

Testimonial:

"Brigitte did an incredible job on this cover. This was the first time working on a book cover for both parties, and she put in the extra effort to make it a success: from reading the book in its entirety so she could better capture its essence to developing mockups when I didn't have a direction picked out to taking every edit, big and small, to ensure the final product drew the eye and stayed true to the contents within.

She also worked with me to convert that cover art into various promotional images for my author site and social media, which really help drive the pitch on the book's dedicated landing page (stephenaroddewig.com/a-bloody-business/). Rest assured, I know where I am going for all future cover projects."

"Five Characters in Search of an Exit" by Rod Serling

As a course assignment, I chose to design the cover for the novelization of my favorite Twilight Zone episode, "Five Characters in Search of an Exit".

I chose to digitally paint the characters in black and white to enhance the intensity of this mystery, while at the same time reflecting the film style of a classic Twilight Zone episode. Each character on the cover gives a clue into their mental state. The title typography is intended to give a sense of chaos and confusion, with its right-justification and letters going from horizontal to vertical. This styling reflects the search itself, and the growing panic that follows.
